Are You Financially Ready To Own A Home?

Starting the process of owning a home can be exciting but sometimes that excitement can over shadow what is most important. There are a lot of other costs that come with owning a home, besides paying the mortgage.

You have utilities to pay such as electric, water, gas, sewer, trash and often times HOA dues in the neighborhood. There are also car payments, credit card payments, student loans etc. It is also wise to also put funds away for home maintenance throughout the year. It is important to think about the overall picture of owning a home and the responsibility it comes with.

Know Your Credit Score

It is important to know your credit score. Your credit score can determine if you qualify for loan at all or which type of loan you may be eligible for. If your credit needs work, speaking with a credit specialist can help guide you in the right direction.

Get Pre-Qualified For A Loan

Getting pre-qualified in today's market is a must. Being pre-qualified lets you know how much house you can afford. So many people make the mistake of falling in love with a home, only to find out they cannot afford it. If you have an agent you are working with, they can help guide in the direction of reputable lenders.

Finding A Real Estate Agent

This is also a very important step in the home buying process. Not only do you want a buyers agent but an agent who knows the area and is very familiar with helping first time home buyers. A buyers agent in NC is an agent who solely represents the buyer and their best interest during the transaction. A listing agent solely represents the sellers and their best interest.

Good luck on your endeavor to homeownership!
